UK ANNCCR is the UK Allied health professionals and Nurses Network for Critical Care Research.
We envisage this network will provide a forum for nurses/AHPs working in critical care research, either as research nurses/AHPs, coordinators or independent researchers, as well as patients/families.
All health care professionals have a responsibility to promote a research and service improvement culture, yet there is currently no specific nursing or allied health care professional (AHP) network for those working in or leading critical care research. This network would complement and intersect with the workings of the UK Critical Care Research Group, and the NIHR delivery of research.
Aims
· Encourage and provide opportunities to network;
· Collaborate and provide support on research projects;
· Facilitate patient and public involvement/engagement in research;
· Provide peer support for AHP/nurse researchers and clinical research practitioners, mentors and promote career pathways;
· Share best practice through education and practice initiatives;
· Create a broad social media presence to highlight and share best research practice/network.
Format
An online network, with a website on NIHR googlehub, social media presence (publicised via NIHR and others) and email lists (JISC) to support network activity. The web pages also house online fora, created for key areas (e.g. research nurses/coordinators). The annual forum of the UKCCRG annual conference would serve as an yearly face-to-face meeting opportunity for the network.
Membership
Critical care nurse/AHP researchers; Research nurses/coordinators/other affiliated members (i.e. research assistants); Academics active in/with an interest in critical care research; Other interested individuals, including patients and the public.
